You are buying a GM replacement clutch plate set for all GM 10 Bolt 8 1/2 or 8 5/8 inch locking differentials, the version shown is for late model years.
- These are the later design clutch plates that have increased surface area for more apply and are much better than the earlier versions
- They have CARBON FIBER lining on the thin side AND the fuse disc (CHECK your application!)
- If you are unsure, ASK US! If you buy the wrong disc set, don’t me mad at us.
- These WILL NOT FIT ‘regular’ Eaton limited slip or posi units.
- The energizing disc and the right hand clutch pack are carbon fiber lined for years of trouble free service
- Let us know if you have or want the ALL STEEL versions, we have them as well
- You get both clutch pack kits, everything that is pictured which is enough for one differential
- These are the same clutch pack kits that we use in our rebuilt differentials
- In most cases the internal clearances will have to be reset and the internal shimming will have to change
- NOT for the Eaton style spring pre-loaded or “S” spring style posi units.
If your Gov-Loc is failing to unlock, popping in corners, making strange noises or acting funny it may be time for new clutches. As the clutches in these units wear out, especially the thin or RHS, the ramp plate must over travel to achieve lock. When this happens, it can get stuck in the locked position and catastrophic damage will result.
In addition, if it does not lock or has been abused, the fuse disc may be stripped or the governor assembly may be damaged. The fuse disc is included with the LHS clutch pack
