Description
In the process of rebuilding a GM G80 28 spline 8-inch locking differential, we completely disassemble and clean the carrier. Then each and every part is inspected. We check for the following:
- Broken cam gear
- Stripped governor teeth
- Worn out case holes
- Worn out clutch packs
- Spun bearing journals
- Worn or galled cross shaft and pitted side or spider gears
Then we carefully re-assemble the carrier, and set the internal end play back to within GM specifications.
The old side bearings are removed and a new set of Timken side bearings are installed along with new bearing races.
Your rebuilt G80 28 spline 8-inch locking differential includes a new GM cross shaft bolt. It will carefully packaged and sent to you for installation.
