Description
This differential case only fits 8-5/8 (8.6″) 10 bolts with 30 spline axles for 1999 and newer C/K trucks or 2000 and newer SUVs
This is the Heavy Duty “708” version, it has 2.5 times the clutch apply area as a normal 8.6 G80.
When we rebuild any differential, we completely disassemble each carrier, clean all the components and then all the parts are inspected.
Once disassembled, we check for the following:
- Broken ramp plate
- Stripped governor teeth
- Worn out case holes
- Worn out clutch packs
- Spun bearing journals
- Worn or galled cross shaft and pitted side or spider gears
Worn out parts are replaced with parts that have plenty of life left in them.
Next, we carefully re-assemble the differential carrier and set the internal end play back to within GM specifications.
We remove the old side bearings and install new Timken side bearings; a new set of bearing races is included.
This 8.6″locking differential comes with a new GM cross shaft retaining bolt and will arrive carefully packaged – ready for you to install.
